Photos from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops Plenary

We Canadian Bishops have been meeting at the NAV Centre (Cornwall) since Monday morning (finishing tomorrow at noon).  We have elected a new executive (President Archbishop Richard Smith; Vice-President Archbishop Paul-Andre Durocher; Co-Treasurers Bishops Douglas Crosby, OMI and Lionel Gendron, pss).

On the opening day we received the Papal Nuncio to Canada, Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana (accompanied by the Nunciature's First Counsellor Mons. Maurizio Bravi), who addressed us and was our guest at a reception and dinner in his honour.

The outgoing president Mgr Pierre Morissette presented a copy of the new Canadian Roman Missal (a handsome production) to His Excellency:

Our invited speaker this year was Mgr Robert Le Gall, osb, Archbishop of Toulouse, who opened for us the significance of two of the Holy Father's exhortations, Sacramentum caritatis (The Sacrament of Love [on the Eucharist]) and Verbum Domini (The Word of the Lord [on Scripture in the church and the world]).

We had discussion sessions after each, exploring how these can animate the life of our local churches.
